Bandai released S.I.C. Vol.01 Kikaider in December of 1998 as the debut the figure to this then brand new collectible line. The figure was very well crafted and with excellent paint job but was more like statue than an action-figures. the set came with several accessories including the guitar, attachment blades for his arms, his conscious circuit (the Jiminy Heart)  and head of mantis robot (to decorate the base or hold in his hand to give Kikaider more menacing look). His chest can be opened to implanted his Jiminy "heart" circuit. The figure was sculpted in a dynamic pose but with very little articulations Kikaider seem to stuck in this odd looking pose. Overall the figure is really nice to look at (I always like the S.I.C. version of Kikaida) but not a whole lot of fun unless you are into this statue type. In the TV show, Kikaider (whose name mean machine) was android constructed by brilliant robotic scientist, Dr. Koyomji, in the hope of defeating Professor Gills evil android army, however Dr. Koyomji never had the chance to finish building Kikaida and he was left with incomplete conscious circuit which made him susceptible to Professor Gill flute and gave his body split unsymmetrical look. I only picked up Vol.01 Kikaider because I found it for very cheap and thought it would be nice to have the figure that started the S.I.C. series. (It was one of the Bandai Studioworks releases that I found on clearance). I can only recommended this figure for die hard Kikaider fans only. Bandai also released special Limited Version "artist version" of this figure with different paint scheme.
