FIX #0001 FA-78-1 FULL ARMOR GUNDAM

Back view of FA-78-1.  The figure came with shoulder cannon mount on to the backpack..  Note the details on the backpack, shield, and leg armors.

FA-78-1 can be converted back to the basic RX-78 Gundam.  In this mode the figure was rather plain looking with very minimal details.

FA-78-01 was the first figure in the FIX Figuration Series.  While the figure itself had superb details, it lacked the articulation of its cousin series - the Mobile Suits in Action.   The figure body and armor came fully painted in dark olive green with stencils and markings mostly on the snap-on armor pieces.   The legs and arms were painted gray instead of the blue often seen on the MSV model kits of FA-78-1.  The figure sculpt and design were unmistakably based on "Ver.Ka." Gundam design (Katoki Hajime take on the old Okawara's Gundam which Bandai recently also turn into plastic model kit series)

The GFF Series was based on the mechanical designs and illustration of Mr. Katoki Hajime a renowned fan turn professional Gundam designer.  His credits included several of the  90's Gundam series such as 0083 Stardust Memory, Wing Gundam and Endless Waltz.  His claim to fame was his work on Gundam Side Story "Gundam Sentinel" that appeared as a serial in Model Graphix magazine.

FA-78-1 FULL ARMOR GUNDAM APPEARED AS PART OF BANDAI "EXPANDED UNIVERSE" MODEL KITS LINE CALLED 'GUNDAM MSV' (MOBILE SUIT VARIATIONS).  THE MSV SERIES WAS BANDAI WAY TO POPULATE THE GUNDAM UNIVERSE WITH MORE 'REALISTIC' WAR MACHINES USING MODIFICATIONS AND VARIANTS THEME MUCH LIKE THE REAL WORLD MACHINERY (AND ALSO A WAY FOR BANDAI TO SELL MORE PLASTIC MODEL KITS).  THE MSV WAS INSPIRED BY WORKS OF GUNDAM FAN KIT-BASH DESIGNS AND CUSTOMIZATION OF GUNDAM KITS WHICH WERE MADE POPULAR BY MANGA CALLED 'PLAMO-KYO SHIRO'  - A STORY ABOUT ROBOT MODEL KIT DUEL COMPETITION.   FA-78-1 ALSO APPEARED IN THIS MANGA.
