Transformers x Microman Anniversary set came package in very nice window box with artworks from the Transformers Superlink anime. (Energon). The package had both Transformers and Microman logos including the anniversary logos, though it was clear that the toy was sold mainly as part of the Superlink line.

Takara included small fold out pamphlet that contained brief history of both Microman and Transformers series. The set also came with two small bio-card, one for Convoy and one for Kicker. (include with most Japan Transformers toys) The standard version of Kicker did not come with the bio card so to get this card you have to buy this special set. The set also came with new catalog of Transformers Superlink line.

Cybertron Kicker

Kicker was the main human character on Transformers Superlink (Energon) TV show. He was a typical teenage character in Japanese anime with lots of anger, recklessness and piss off at the father. Kicker's father was a scientist working with the Cybertron (Autobot). Kicker was given special power by Legendary Primus. The power gave him special sense that can detect Energon deposits or approaching Destron (Deception) Transformers. His suit was built by his dad to protect him as he fight along side the Cybertron (Autobot) to defend human from Destron.

Takara released the landmark Microman and Transformers Anniversary Special Set in March of 2004 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Transformers series and 30th Anniversary of Microman. The set contained special version of "Microman" Kicker figure with special chromed head and chest as a homage to Microman and SL Grand Convoy (smaller size version of Superlink Grand Convoy). Kicker figure was mostly identical to the Superlink SC-14 Kicker figure but with the aforementioned chromed head and chest piece and slight color changes. His pelvic, arms and legs were cast in semi-translucent dark smoke clear plastic instead of the solid black used on the regular version of Kicker (another tribute to Microman series). The clear effect was very slight as not to detract from Kicker basic color scheme. The chrome parts had nice blue metallic highlight that match the chrome on SL Grand Convoy which made the two figures compliment one another really well. Also the blue on the non-chrome part of anniversary Kicker was done in metallic blue paint instead of just dark blue color. (The red on this figure was also a bit darker).

Takara included two accessories for Anniversary Kicker - a gold version of Energon Saber (regular version was chrome) and small metallic green Megatron Sword.  (The chrome on Energon Saber was a very light shade of gold and not the bright gold shown on the package.)  Megatron Sword was design for Kicker figure only while the Energon Saber can be hold by both SL Grand Convoy and Kicker.  (The design featured two size handles on one hilt). SL Grand Convoy Transformers Superlink figure was mostly identical to the regular version of SL Grand Convoy (SC-13). The SL Convoy was a smaller version of the Superlink SC-01 Grand Convoy (Optimus Prime Energon).  SL Grand Convoy appearance was very similar to that of the Grand Convoy but the figure was cleverly design so it can be used to combine (Powerlinx) with other similar size figure in Transformers Superlink line. In Powerlinx mode, SL Grand Convoy had larger "helmet" that go over his smaller head to make the larger "Super" Convoy Powerlinx head. The figure had semi-clear blue windows and clear blue arms and came with matching clear blue plastic gun that featured two 5mm ports. SL Grand Convoy still had the same bulkiness look to him as his bigger version and can appeared a little bloated. Despite his large frame, the SL version was actually very small deluxe size when compared to other Transformers Superlink figures of the same price point.  However, he did combine very well with other Superlink figures especially when he transformed into the top part of the Superlinx robot.  (Check out gallery of SL Convoy and other Transformers at Remy's TFKENKON website)

This Special Set was the perfect Anniversary set for both Microman and Transformers line. The set had figures that were the representatives of the most current incarnations of these two long running series. It was very nice to see both popular Takara sci-fi lines being sold together in one package.
