Packaging & Instruction

Microman 2004 came in beautifully done removable blister card style packaging. The backing card had very nice picture of the toy with all the accessories on display in the blister window. As a nice touch, the blister had the "O" design (in MICROMAN logo) molded on. While the cylinder tube 2003 series was nice and compact, the new blister was definitely more attractive looking.

Acroyear X AcroBiom

AcroBiom was the most vicious and destructive of the Acroyears. The body possessed the most poisonous venom from snakes and very fatal to those that get struck by him.  His head can be separated and function as independent entity.

Fighting Style - Kickboxing

Blood Type - nRB

Favorite Things - Indifference

Equipment - serpent poison shield and fork

Microman New Stand

Microman 2004 came with new style figure stand. The stand features Microman "Da Vinci" style logo emboss on clear plastic with two styles of pegs  - one for the newer Microman figures and one for the vintage figures with 5mm port.

Microman 2004 AX-14 AcroBiom was the fourth and last member of the Acroyear X series. (Acroyear X was the evil counterpart to the Microman Master Force). The designs of the new Acroyears followed the King Walder designs (enemy of Henshin Cyborg) rather than that of the Acroyears from the original 1970's Microman line.  Because of this design concept, the new Acroyear-X might take some getting used to, but since the new Microman designs were more akin to the Henshin Cyborgs, having the bad guy followed the same design philosophy made a lot more sense than turning these villains into the mechanical beings from vintage Microman.  However, as in Microman Master Force series, Acroyear-X had plenty of design elements that were direct homage to both Microman and Henshin Cyborg villains.  AcroBiom was probably the most unconventional looking of the four Acroyears. He had a large monster head with long "pony tail"-like tail that sprout out from the top of his head.  His monster head, shield and spear could be seen as a take on Microman Amazon Acroyear but of the four Biom probably had the least design elements from the old series and the most organic looking.

AcroBiom had all clear dark purple color body with blue hexagon shape cluster to look like scales. The hexagon shape reference appeared throughout the new series and probably eluded to the nano-tecnology background story of the new series. (Takara also used hexagon shape extensively for the short live MYCLONE series) I am unsure about the significance of the hexagon shape as it could also be reference to the fact that these guys were carbon base life form since hexagon is the shape of carbon molecule. Also the hexagon shape with atom symbol was old Microman Zone era logo. AcroBiome also had two cutter bracelets, one on each side of the arm. He was the only one that kept parts of his chrome armor in the "naked" mode. AcroBiom, like other Acroyear X, had basic design based on the sci-fi horror and fantasy movie "monsters" popular in the 60's and 70's.  In this case his design was based on a serpent. (The other three were space alien, dragon and skeleton) The back part of the armor had removable piece that could form a shield while the serpent tail can be detach and became a fork weapon. The most unusual design for Biom was that his head can be remove from the body and form a separate snake (which left the Acroyear body in headless stage). The shield also used to attach to the top of AcroBiome head to gave the serpent head the cobra-like appearance.

Equipment Alternate Mode

AcroBiom was probably the most bizarre of the four new Acroyear X figures. The headless body mode with the head as a serpent was a pretty wicked design and conjured up image of old sci-fi series where monster head would function separate from the body.  The clear blue serpent body part was very nice (it was originally suppose to be mostly solid blue) and very poseable with the ball joints design. The serpent design and large monster head couple with blue metallic color gave AcroBiome the most fearsome and vicious appearance.
