Packaging & Instruction

Microman 2004 came in beautifully done removable blister card style packaging. The backing card had very nice picture of the toy with all the accessories on display in the blister window. As a nice touch, the blister had the "O" design (in MICROMAN logo) molded on. While the cylinder tube 2003 series was nice and compact, the new blister was definitely more attractive looking.

Microman Roberto

Microman Roberto has especially strong micro-cell respiratory organ and lung which allow for great diving ability. When equipped with his Micro-Shell, Roberto can exceed the speed of over 10000 meter underwater. He has great love for marine creatures and nature.

Microman New Stand

Microman 2004 came with new style figure stand. The stand features Microman "Da Vinci" style logo emboss on clear plastic with two styles of pegs  - one for the newer Microman figures and one for the vintage figures with 5mm port.

Microman MF2-03 Divemaster Roberto was the third member of the Master Force series. Roberto was the underwater expert of the team. (Master Force theme followed the four method of travel - air, underground, water and surface).  Roberto shared the same new Microman core body with the other figures in the series (The same body debuted with last year Micro Force and Tatsunoko Fight! Microman 2003 line). Roberto had blue-gray body with brown paint highlight. The body had pearl-like appearance similar to the body used by Takara for Clear Mode version of Microman M164 Command 2 from a few years back. Roberto had astronaut-like cap design for his head as molded on detail. His chest had two round stylize symbol that represent his dive armor suit.

Divemaster Roberto armor was a round ball-shape diving gear called "Micro- Shell" with beautiful chrome finished. The armor / diving apparatus design was a homage to the old vintage Micro Escargo toy. The armor had clear window on the front and two mechanical arms on each side of the ball. The interior was molded with extensive details from the rear mount handle bars, head rest to the display gages (all done completely in chrome, of course). The side of the ball had two doors that open up like a pair of wings and allowed Roberto to be pose with his arms outside the armor as alternate mode for his equipment. While the armor appeared very heavy, Roberto actually could stand up quite well even without the aid of the figure stand. As the new Microman 2004 line was definitely gear toward older collectors, the armor require some assembly with many small delicate parts. The Divemaster equipment armor was quite secure and was one of the figure with the least problem of parts falling off during "play". Beside the armor, Roberto came with five extra pairs of alternate hands molded in the same color as his body. Like other 2004 figures, the hands were molded with much softer materials than those that came with 2003 line.

Micro-Shell

Microman Divemaster was not the best looking of the four Micro Master figures but he was probably my favorite.  I always like the armor suit toy for Microman figure and having the suit design that resembled the old Micro Escargo was a great homage. One of design problem for some was the lack of any armor parts for the lower section of the body. This can take a bit of getting used to having all the part concentrate on the top half but I find the design quite bold and unique. Sure, the designer probably could added on snap on armor piece but I think this would have distract from the ball-like shape of the armor (and the not so subtle reference to Micro Escargo). The top-only armor design was also a nice homage to the good old Hoodman's Hood Armor (the front section of the armor even featured the "headlights" design).
